An Open Letter to United States Postmaster General

Dear Sir,
I understand that the USPS isn’t doing very well and you’ll be cutting back on service and penalizing the users of First Class Mail by requesting another rate increase.    Sad, but that will drive more people away as you increase the cost of communication via letter / cards -
Yes, the Internet and email and even text messages have cut into your business, but emails and electronic communications are fleeting and if a computer fails, they’re gone.   Imagine if Abraham Lincoln’s  letters were via email.   What a loss of National treasures.   Perhaps instead of raising rates, maybe there are other ways to entice people to write more cards and letters.  How about giving ten (10) extra stamps when someone buys a sheet of a hundred (100) ?   Or how about “Mail Free on the 13th of the month”?
In my opinion, I’d also get rid of the strange rules of mailing envelopes.  It wastes time in line and confuses the general public on what rate applies.
