"Preserving the memories so others will remember"™

Have we forgotten?

foldedcolors Have we forgotten? The principle was enunciated over 200 years ago by President & General George Washington:

“There is a rank due to the United States among nations, which will be withheld, if not absolutely lost, by the reputation of weakness. . . . If we desire to secure peace . . . it must be known that we are at all times ready for war.”

I began this post before the tragic event at Fort Hood, TX.  My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to those who were directly affected and all of our military.

I don’t like messing this blog with politics and carping, however it’s time that Congress realize the distress our military is experiencing.  I have many friends who are defending our freedoms and have some sense of what they are experiencing, but not walking in their boots, it’s not the same.

Congress should stop it’s petty battles and worry more about the military and provide them all the resources they need to defend the United States, but more importantly to see that each member of the military is kept safe.  We’ve been at war for probably nearing the longest we’ve ever been involved.   Despite whether you agree or don’t agree with the war, those in the military have signed up to do what it takes to keep you safe and defend the freedoms that most take for granted.

You’d think that Congress would pay more attention to the real things and the people they’re elected to represent.

I yield the floor…

John I agree with you, however congress sees the military as expendable no matter what hey say, their actions speak louder than words. They always seem to have something more important to worry about than the safety of this nation and the well being of the ones defending it. My heart goes out to those at FT Hood who were killed, wounded, and those who will never be the same.

Thank you Kevin. I believe it’s up to us to remind Congress who they are working for… the citizens of the United States.
